Imam Al-Nawawi: The virtuous and working scholar, the Sheikh of Islam and the authority of Muslims, and the editor of the doctrine of Imam Al-Shafi’i. He was mentioned throughout the horizons, and his esteem was high between the public and the private.

And the rank of scholars after the prophets, may Allaah have mercy upon them. They are their heirs, and since they did not leave behind anything except knowledge, the one who took from them received a great fortune in this world and the hereafter.

Imam Al-Nawawi is one of the imams who are accepted by all sects. May Allaah Almighty have mercy on him and be pleased with him.

This book is a comprehensive translation of this blessed Imam, and its author, Imam Al-Sakhawi - may Allaah Almighty have mercy on him - stated that his purpose in compiling it is to hope to include Imam Al-Nawawi’s blessing, and to demonstrate his love for him. When the righteous are mentioned, mercy descends.

This translation is considered the most extensive translation by Imam al-Nawawi, may Allaah Almighty have mercy on him, with good organization and arrangement, revision and refinement. The author included additions and unique things that had never been seen before.

It was destined to be accepted with the blessing of its owner. Since it was written by its author, heard from, and written about, it has spread throughout the lands and was read at the resting place of Imam al-Nawawi, may Allaah Almighty have mercy on him.

It included a mention of his lineage and ancestry, his birth and upbringing, his move to Damascus and his work with knowledge, his sheikhs and his hearers, his writings and benefiting from them, his guardianship of Dar al-Hadith al-Ashrafiyya, those who heard from him and took from him, some of his conditions and dignity, his progress in knowledge, his doctrinal doctrine, some of his qualities, and his advice to the Sultan. And whoever of the sheikhs translated for him, and his death, may Allaah Almighty have mercy on him, and so on.

We ask God Almighty to benefit us from serving the Imams and scholars, benefit us, and bring us together with them in gardens of bliss with the Master of Messengers.
